Google is acutely concerned about the user's experience. It has been for a long time and this is nothing new. Google/Bing Webmaster Tools allows you to submit multiple pages at once by submitting your sitemap(s). Sitemaps also have the added benefit of supplying a few other useful pieces of information about your web pages to the search engines, Having an appropriate title will increase traffic to your site. The placement of keywords in your title has a huge impact on determining where a search engine will place your site. The page’s title should include some of your site’s keywords to increase your ranking in the search engines. Search engines use alt text to identify the content of a page, since bots can only read text. Adding alt text to images lets search engines understand what the image is so they can include it in relevant searches.
Google wants to ensure that they can provide high-quality results for the longer queries
On a basic level, a website with good user experience has easy navigation, interesting, useful and valuable content, an aesthetically pleasing design and has quick and easy access to other pages and content on the site. It helps the
search engines quickly determine what the page is about. In today’s SEO world, search engines often evaluate content to determine the search rankings of a website. It is a common misconception that content marketing doesn’t work as well for e-commerce websites. While your content marketing should be crafted carefully to meet SEO requirements, such as by including keywords, the success and popularity of your actual content will be the real force behind the rise of your web page in the search rankings.
Add a Click to Tweet button to pull quotes and other “tweetables” on a web page
In the past, Google’s algorithm was not quite clever or sophisticated enough to ignore the poor quality links these techniques garnered but that is changing. The Panda and Penguin updates represent perhaps Google’s most aggressive attempt to clean up its search results and in turn, this is having a major impact on the approach that needs to be taken to link building in particular. Doing so will
dramatically bias outcomes in your favor. It appears that when attempting to improve search engine ranking for a web-site, a position in the top six of the search engine results page has never been more important. Even web pages that currently have a top search engine ranking cannot afford to be complacent. Content is written in a manner that helps Google and other search engines find and identify it as being relevant to certain keywords and phrases that people enter into the search engine query box.
Be consistent and follow a well-documented plan
Optimization is the key to ensuring that search engines rank your website favorably in their results. But in order for optimization to work, the content on your site needs to be awesome! Build a great series of appropriate backlinks on your site. Have your keyword phrases be in the titles of said links. Make sure that these network links are related to your content, otherwise they could possibly work against you. Using backlinks is a great way to bring in traffic from various areas. You can’t master SEO in a day, but you can resolve to make small steps in each of the areas of SEO that will make your site better and your efforts more impactful. Gaz Hall, a
Freelance SEO Consultant, commented: "Using your focus keyword in the headline can also be a good idea, but don’t try too hard to include it. Use power words and avoid redundancy to create a clear and appealing result. Aim for a headline of 55-60 characters, as this is what Google will display on the SERP."
Use anchor text
Another quick, and valuable SEO tactic – see what your competitors are ranking for. Go to one of the tools used to check out our own rankings, but put in a competitor domain. You’ll quickly see what terms they are getting traffic from, and can take the best for yourself! Search engine do
not give you links that are counted to your link popularity. You need to write content that others want to link to. And in my opinion, if you are not passionate about what you are writing, then it will be hard to get links pointing to your content. Search engines were nothing new; the first one was Archie created back in 1990, and there had been more than a few created between then & when Google launched (most notably Yahoo!) SEO takes some time. There’s no legitimate way around that. But SEO is also not a one-and-done activity. You can’t SEO a website and call it good. If you want to stay competitive, then SEO shouldn’t stop just because you’ve started seeing results.
